FAQs

Questions, Sorted.

Can I cancel or return a custom order?

Custom-printed items are made specifically to your design, so they can't be returned or exchanged for change of mind. Once you've approved your artwork and production has started, the order can't be cancelled. If something arrives faulty, misprinted or not what you approved, that's on us - contact us and we'll reprint or refund it. If you spot a mistake before production begins, get in touch straight away and we'll do what we can.

Can I pick up my order?

Yes - pickup from the garage is free. We're at 33 Riverside Place, Morningside QLD 4170, and we'll let you know the moment your order is ready. If you'd rather it came to you, it's 1-3 days around Brisbane and South East Queensland, 3-7 days Australia-wide, or 1-2 days on express.

Can I reorder the same design later?

Yes. We keep your artwork and print files on record, so a repeat run is quick and there's nothing to set up again. Just get in touch with your original order number, or add the same product through the designer and tell us it's a reorder. Handy for new staff, extra sizes, or a second season of the same merch.

Can I see a mock-up of my design before you print?

Yes - nothing goes to print until you've seen it. In the online designer you get a live preview as you build, so what's on screen is what we print. For quoted jobs, or anything we set up for you, we'll send a digital proof showing the artwork, placement and size, and wait for your approval before starting production.

Do you offer bulk or volume discounts?

Yes, and you don't need to ask for them. Discounts are applied automatically as your quantity goes up: 5% from 5 items, 10% from 11, 20% from 26 and 25% from 51. You'll watch the per-item price drop in the designer before you check out, and the same rate carries through to your cart. Past 50 items we can usually do better than the standard rate - the designer will offer you a quote at that point, or get in touch and we'll price the run properly.

How long does it take to complete an order?

Production time runs from the moment your artwork is approved. DTF, DTG and sublimation take 5-10 business days; screen printing takes 10-14 because of the extra setup. Delivery is on top of that: free pickup from our Morningside garage, 1-3 days around Brisbane and South East Queensland, 3-7 days Australia-wide, or 1-2 days express. Working to a fixed date? Tell us the deadline and we'll work back from it.

How much does printing cost on top of the garment?

Digital printing and DTF are $10 per print position - the same price whether your design is one colour or full colour. Screen printing is priced per colour instead, from $4.25 per item for a single colour up to $9.50 for six, plus the one-off $35 setup per screen. Sublimated products like our towels and mousepads have the print built into the price. Pick your garment, choose a method and drop in your artwork - the designer updates the price live as you go, so you can see exactly what a second position on the back or sleeve adds before you commit. On some products, like our tote bags, additional positions cost less than the first. Volume discounts apply automatically, so the per-item price drops as the run grows.

How should I wash printed garments?

Turn the garment inside out and wash cold on a gentle cycle with similar colours. Skip the fabric softener, line dry in the shade rather than tumble drying, and if you need to iron, do it inside out and never directly on the print. Treated well, a good print will outlast the garment.

I'm ordering more than 50 items - can you do better on price?

Usually, yes. Past 50 items the designer will offer to turn your design into a quote rather than a straight checkout, and we'll price the run properly - including multi-position jobs, mixed garments and ongoing supply. You'll keep everything you've already set up; we just take it off the standard rate card. Same goes for schools, clubs and businesses ordering regularly.

What artwork do you need from me?

Vector files are ideal - AI, EPS, PDF or SVG - because they scale to any size without losing sharpness. For digital printing and DTF, a high-resolution PNG or JPG works too, as long as it's around 300dpi at the size it will print and has a transparent background where you want the garment to show through. Screen printing needs vector artwork or clean colour separations. Upload straight into the designer and it will warn you if a file is too low-resolution for the size you've placed it at.

What garments do you print on?

Most of our range is AS Colour - tees, hoods, crews, polos and headwear - as we're an AS Colour preferred blank supplier. We also stock Sportage tees, and our own Print Garage range: calico tote bags, beach towels, tea towels and mousepads. Holding the blanks ourselves is what lets us turn small runs around quickly. After something we don't list? Ask us and we'll look at sourcing it.

What if my artwork isn't print-ready?

We can fix it. Our artwork redraw service rebuilds your logo or design as a clean vector file for $60, which then works at any size and with any method. It's most often needed when a low-resolution logo is headed for screen printing. If your file needs it, we'll tell you before anything is charged or printed.

What is the minimum order quantity?

One. Digital printing, DTF and our sublimated range all start at a single piece with no setup fee - order one shirt through the online designer if that's all you need. Screen printing works differently: the minimum is 25 pieces per print colour, so a three-colour design starts at 75, and there's a one-off $35 setup charge per screen shown as its own line in your cart. Above those minimums screen printing becomes the most cost-effective option as volumes climb. Larger runs also attract volume discounts, applied automatically as you increase the quantity.

What printing methods do you offer at The Print Garage?

Everything is printed in-house at our Brisbane garage. We run DTG (direct-to-garment) for full-colour designs on small runs, DTF (direct-to-film) transfers for bright, durable prints on almost any fabric, and screen printing for larger volumes. Our towels, tea towels and mousepads are sublimated, which prints the design edge to edge into the product itself. UV printing for drinkware and embroidery are coming soon. Not sure which suits your job? Send through your artwork and we'll recommend the right method for the garment, the quantity and the finish you're after.
